In April 2020, Ghana's COVID-19 restrictions brought movement, trade and daily economic activity to an abrupt halt. For households dependent on daily income, the public-health emergency quickly became a household emergency.
Food access, mobility and the ability to meet basic needs became immediate concerns, particularly for older people, persons living with disabilities and families already living with limited financial security.
The Kofi Abban Foundation responded by taking food and essential supplies directly into affected communities across Accra, working through religious institutions, local networks and community-based partners so the outreach could reach households quickly and respectfully.
