Our Purpose

Turning Potential Into Progress.

The Foundation exists to help people and institutions gain the access, resources and support required to move forward.

Vision

A society in which every person has a meaningful opportunity to learn, contribute and build a better future.

Mission

To expand opportunity by supporting education, human development, vulnerable communities, capable institutions and sustainable national progress.

"We help people and institutions move forward."

Foundation story

The Kofi Abban Foundation reflects Dr Kofi Amoa-Abban's belief that success carries responsibility. Its work has developed around moments and institutions where practical intervention can create meaningful change.

Publicly documented interventions associated with the Foundation include emergency relief during Ghana's COVID-19 restrictions, targeted support for persons living with disabilities, operational support for Mole National Park and education-related commitments. The Foundation's next chapter is to consolidate these interventions into a clear, measurable and sustainable impact framework.

Our approach

Five disciplines. One method.

01

Listen

We begin with the people and institutions closest to the challenge.

02

Understand

We examine the need, available capacity and barriers to progress.

03

Partner

We work with credible organisations, communities and technical experts.

04

Act

We provide practical, targeted support with clear objectives.

05

Measure

We document outputs, outcomes, learning and the work that remains.

Values

Compassion

We begin by understanding people, their circumstances and the barriers preventing progress.

Dignity

We support people in ways that respect their agency, potential and humanity.

Practical Action

We focus on interventions that respond to identifiable needs and deliver tangible value.

Opportunity

We believe support should open doors to education, employment, enterprise and long-term independence.

Partnership

Sustainable impact requires collaboration with communities, institutions, government, businesses and development partners.

Accountability

We are responsible for demonstrating how resources are used and what outcomes they produce.

Sustainability

We seek solutions that continue creating value beyond the initial intervention.

What sustainable impact means

Our objective is not merely to deliver a donation or complete an event. We seek to strengthen the conditions that allow people and institutions to continue progressing after the initial intervention ends.
